By now we have familiarized ourselves with all the main characters of the story. The Pandavas and Kunti escaped from the burning Lac Palace and went to live in Ekachakrapura disguised as Brahmins. News about Draupadi's swayamvar reached the Pandavas and they wanted to participate.  Pandavas and Kunti went to king Drupada's kingdom where the swayamvar was being conducted, still in their disguise.  Drishtadyumna, draupadi's brother had set up a contest for an eligible suitor for his sister. The one who can string a divine bow and shoot arrows through the eye of a fish looking at its reflection in water will be able to win draupadi's hand. Many princes including Duryodhan tried and was unsuccessful.  Arjun who was sitting amongst the Brahmins stood up, walked towards the dice and effortlessly strung the bow and aimed at the fish and shot the arrows and wins Draupadi's hand.
News of pandavas being alive spread , and king Dhritharashtra hears about it. He has no choice but to welcome them back and give them the state of Indraprashta to rule.  The Kauravas are very unhappy and they start coming up with new plots to get rid of their cousins.
