We continued to learn about some of the most important characters of the Mahabharat , weaving them into the story line. Life of Karna  was today's topic.  Young Kunti had obtained a boon from sage Durvasa that she could call upon any God and be blessed with a divine son. She tried her gift out by calling upon Surya the son God. Karna wearing a gold armor and earring was born to her. Kunti gives up the new born by floating him away in the river. Karna was found and raised by the charioteer of Hastinapur; Although a khastriya by birth and a divine child, he was raised a suta-putra and did not enjoy the same privileges as the other noble princes. We learned abt the virtues and qualities of Karna that made him stand out as a hero of the Mahabharat. Although he fought with the Kauravas in the war, he stood by the principles that he believed in and his undying friendship toward Duryodhan.
