Story of Bheeshma
Bheeshma is the central character of Mahabharata. Bheeshma was the son of Shanthanu & Ganga.  Bheeshma got his name by taking an Oath to remain unmarried and be loyal to whoever is on the throne of Hastinapur. One has to wonder whether the Mahabharata would not have happened if Bheehsma had not taken such an Oath. Bheeshma was  selfless, courageous and was loyal to his King and Kingdom, even when he had to fight against the Pandavas for whom he cared deeply.
